about

Hi, I’m Jessica Attas

Hi, I’m Jessica. I am a licensed clinical trauma therapist in New York and Connecticut. I am a Northern Virginia native and moved to New York City to live out my city girl dreams.

I founded Compassionate Connections Wellness Center after years of working with children, teens, adults, couples, families, and communities. Across every age and stage of life, I noticed a common thread-the deep, human need for connection. Whether I was supporting a person learning to name and express their emotions, a couple rebuilding trust, an individual healing from trauma, or witnessed the power of a group supporting each other through the most painful losses of their lives, I saw how true healing happens when people are met with compassion and are able to connect with all parts of themselves especially the parts of that have been exiled, burned, or suppressed.

My work with individuals who have experienced complex trauma showed me just how essential compassion, curiosity, and safety are in the therapy space. When we are able to establish safety, we create the foundation to truly connect with ourselves and with others. So often, our pain grows in isolation, but when we can meet ourselves with gentleness and curiosity, we begin to experience more authentic relationships—with ourselves, with others, and within our communities.

When I’m not being a therapist, you can find me cooking, spending time with friends, curled up with a good book, going on adventures or indulging in my favorite reality TV shows.

Me

My hope is that Compassionate Connections Wellness Center will serve as a place to help lighten the load people carry, explore past experiences that shaped their present and develop a life that feels sustainable through therapy.

Since childhood, I’ve been deeply curious about people and what makes them who they are. Growing up, I faced my own challenges that taught me the importance of being seen, heard, and understood. Not only did I see how valuable it was to be witnessed by others, I learned how powerful it is to be a listening ear for someone who is going through a hard time. These experiences and the people who supported me along the way taught me how important it is to have someone in your corner who gets it and can partner alongside you to be empowered in your healing process. Healing happens in relationships-not in isolation.

I have a special interest in helping people navigate the changes and challenges that often arise in their 20s and 30s. This time can be both exciting and overwhelming, and I’m passionate about walking alongside you as you move toward adulthood, independence, and beyond. I work with clients on issues including anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, trauma, body image, self-esteem, substance use, and grief.

My Values as a Therapist

  • Authenticity

Shedding the facades we put up when we show up in different spaces. A place to embrace all parts of oneself without judgement.

  • Collaboration

Although I have a lot of experience and training, I strive to partner with my clients to understand them and their experiences and consider the therapy process to be a place where everyone deserves to be heard and understood.

  • Compassion

Recognizing the lived experiences of others and providing a non-judgmental space for them to identify and process their emotions and beliefs associated with these experiences. Holding space for other people’s experiences without judgment.

  • Inclusivity

Therapy at Compassionate Connections Wellness Center is for everyone. I strive to make people feel welcome no matter their gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, etc. It is so important to me that all my clients feel seen, heard, and valued.

My approach to therapy is collaborative, conversational, and creative.

I strive to create an affirming space where you feel safe to be yourself, and you can count on me to be authentic, honest, and human in return. I bring my real self, life experience, and sense of humor into sessions to build genuine connections and foster meaningful growth.

There is no one size fits all approach to therapy. Together, we will identify your goals, create a plan, and take tangible steps toward lasting change. My work integrates evidence-based approaches with practical skill-building to help you develop healthier patterns and feel empowered to take the driver’s seat in your life.
